Frederik VIII’s Palace renovated in contemporary style
Amalienborg, the ensemble of four almost identical representative buildings around an octagonal courtyard in the heart of Copenhagen is regarded as a highlight of the Danish baroque from the mid 18th century. Since 2004, one of the palaces has undergone extensive renovation to create a contemporary city residence for Danish Crown Prince Frederik, his consort Mary and their two children.
The new furnishings also include the Axor collections Axor Starck Classic and Axor Uno². The mixers were produced in theAxor Manufaktur with a special polished nickel finish.
In Frederik VIII’s Palace, as this section of the palace buildings are known, the minimalist Axor Starck collection meets the modern taste of the Crown Prince couple. In re-designing the palace, the couple focused on simple elegance and works by contemporary artists – a framework that seemed almost made for Axor Starck Classic and Axor Uno².
