Hansgrohe recently hosted the second annual Hansgrohe Masters of Water Lifesaving Series; kicking off in late December in Port Elizabeth, followed by a trip to Cape Town and Durban. The Series invited 31 top athletes from the national lifesaving arena to compete in various activities in the 2 disciplines- beach and surf.

The Hansgrohe Masters of Water Lifesaving Series was conceptualised in 2009 in an effort to provide a platform for South African lifesavers to compete and gain valuable experience in order to compete internationally. Built on the success of the 2009 campaign, the 2010 series ran along the same lines as the previous year. However, Hansgrohe extended an invitation to the Lifesaving Nippers (juniors under the age of 14); bringing together high spirits and families for a day of fun on the beach.

The series culminated in Durban with tough competition between the competitors and adrenalin packed races. Hansgrohe South Africa will continue to build on the Series as they show their ongoing support for this volunteer sport.

To round off the 2010 Lifesaving campaign was the 2010 SA National Masters Event in Port Elizabeth on the 24th March. The Masters Event honoured past lifesavers who still continue to support the movement in the sport up to the age of 72, which is something to be commended.

Rounding off this year’s lifesaving campaign was the 2010 SA National Masters held in Port Elizabeth on the 24th March.
